Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a healing technique based on the principle of free and uninterrupted energy flow and helps activate the natural healing processes in each patient's body as well as to restore their physical and emotional well-being. As a certified Massage Therapist, I help patients reduce their stress and anxiety, among other ailments.
Connective Tissue Massage
Connective tissue manipulation (CTM) is a soft tissue manipulative technique which stretches connective tissue, restoring mobility at dermis/hypodermis and dermis/fascia interfaces and promoting remodelling of collagen.
As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart.
Structural Integration is a form of bodywork in which the therapist and client work together to bring the client's body back into its natural alignment. The practitioner achieves this by manipulating the body's fascia, which is a three dimensional web of connective tissue surrounding every bone, muscle, nerve, blood vessel and organ of the body.
According to research conducted over the last ten years, massage therapy increases hormones associated with relaxation and stress reduction. This, in turn, promotes more even mood and improved cardiovascular function.
In one study, women who got bi-weekly massages for five weeks had lower levels of stress hormones like norepinephrine and cortisol, and higher levels of relaxation hormones like serotonin and dopamine, both of which can ward off depression and anxiety. This is important for all mothers, but essential for those who have battled anxiety and depression in the past.
